Spring Forward with Better Energy

As we shift the clocks forward for daylight saving time, many people feel the effects—grogginess, disrupted sleep, or a general sense of being out of sync. But instead of viewing this change as a loss of an hour, we can reframe it as an energetic portal, an opportunity to align with the natural expansion of light and momentum of the season. The transition into longer days mirrors our own personal growth, urging us to move forward with clarity and intention.

Spring is a season of renewal, and this shift in time can be seen as a cosmic nudge, encouraging us to shake off the stagnation of winter and embrace movement, creativity, and expansion. We can ease the transition and use it to our advantage by tuning into this energy. Here’s how to spiritually sync with the shift and embrace the energy of spring forward.

Use Forward Momentum

Instead of resisting the time change, work with it as an invitation to align with an accelerated timeline. Before bed on the night of the shift, visualize yourself stepping into a new energetic rhythm, allowing the extra daylight to charge your body, mind, and spirit.
  • Energetic Clock Reset – Reframe the time shift not as lost sleep, but as a doorway into greater ease and expansion. Imagine yourself stepping forward into a version of you that flows with time shift instead of fighting it.
  • Affirmation Activation: “I step forward with ease. My body, mind, and spirit are in sync with this shift.”
  • Journaling Prompt: What am I springing forward into? Where am I ready to embrace acceleration?
Consider adjusting your schedule in small increments a few days before the time change to embody this shift further. Going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night leading up to the shift can help your body acclimate gradually, reducing the feeling of abrupt change.

Ignite Your Energy with Solar Fire Practices

Spring forward brings more light, and we can harness this energy to awaken clarity and vitality. Fire represents transformation—use it to set new intentions.

  • Candle Ritual for Alignment – Light a yellow, orange, or gold candle to symbolize solar energy and longer days. Write down one old habit you’re shedding with the time change and one new habit you’re calling in. Safely burn the paper, releasing resistance and embracing the shift.
  • Sunlight Activation – On the first morning after the time change, take three deep breaths in the sunlight. Imagine it charging your aura, revitalizing your cells, and syncing your body to the expanded daylight.
  • Movement and Breathwork – Engage in light movements, such as yoga or stretching, paired with deep, intentional breathing. This helps your body reset its internal clock and awaken naturally with the new rhythm of the day.

Nourish Your Body

Just as nature is awakening, our bodies also crave renewal and fresh energy. Supporting yourself nutritionally can ease the transition and help you feel more balanced.

  • Eat seasonal foods like fresh greens, citrus, and sprouts to align with the vitality of spring.
  • Stay hydrated—our bodies often need more water as the days lengthen and activity increases.
  • Reduce caffeine or heavy meals in the late afternoon to support better sleep.

Elemental Energy Reset

Working with the elements can help stabilize and integrate the shift.
  • Water: Take a cool shower or soak your feet in a salt bath to clear grogginess and refresh your system. You can also set an intention while drinking a glass of water, visualizing it cleansing and energizing you for the day.
  • Earth: Use with a grounding stone (like hematite or black tourmaline) under your chair or desk to stabilize your energy. Spending time outdoors, even for a few minutes, can also help reset your body’s rhythm. Walk barefoot on the grass, stand under a tree, or place your hands on the earth to ground yourself.
  • Air: Open windows or diffuse peppermint or eucalyptus to clear mental fog and invite fresh energy. Conscious breathing exercises, like alternate nostril breathing or deep belly breaths, can also assist in integrating the shift.
  • Fire: Meditate on the Sun’s expanding light—where in your life are things being illuminated? What needs your attention as the days grow longer? Set intentions based on this awareness and allow yourself to embrace the opportunities the season presents.
The time change is more than just adjusting the clocks—an invitation to realign with the natural rhythms of light and growth. By intentionally syncing our energy with this transition, we can move into the new season feeling refreshed, clear, and in flow. Instead of dreading the adjustment, embrace it as an energetic upgrade, a moment to step forward purposefully.

The extra daylight allows one to cultivate new habits, increase productivity, and embrace a more expansive mindset. Consider using this time to set fresh goals, explore creative endeavors, or establish a morning practice that aligns with your intentions for the season ahead.
