It can be intimidating to prepare for a Reiki session if you've never had one before!

Reiki sessions typically occur in a quiet and comfortable setting, such as a private room or a dedicated healing space. The room may be dimly lit, and soothing music may be played in the background to help promote relaxation.

You will typically be fully clothed during a Reiki session and may be asked to remove your shoes, hat, and glasses.

You will be asked to lie down on a massage table or sit in a massage chair where the practitioner will help you get comfortable with pillows and a blanket, if necessary. The Reiki practitioner should ask for your permission to place their hands on or near different parts of your body, depending on your specific needs and goals.

Hydrate

It is generally a good idea to hydrate before a Reiki session because being well-hydrated can facilitate the flow of energy throughout the body, which is a fundamental aspect of Reiki practice. The body's ability to conduct energy is enhanced when adequately hydrated, as water is an excellent conductor of energy.

Additionally, being well-hydrated can help the body detoxify and flush out any toxins present, further supporting the healing process.

Overall, while it is not strictly necessary to hydrate before a Reiki session, doing so can help prepare the body for the energetic work that will take place and enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment.

Nourishment

There are no strict dietary guidelines for what to eat before a Reiki session, as the energetic work involved in Reiki is not affected by the specific foods you consume. However, there are a few general guidelines that may help to support your overall health and well-being during the session:

  1. Eat a balanced meal: Before a Reiki session, it's a good idea to eat a well-balanced meal that includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. This can provide you with sustained energy throughout the session.
  2. Avoid heavy or greasy foods: Eating fatty, greasy foods before a Reiki session may leave you feeling sluggish or uncomfortable, detracting from your ability to relax and receive the healing energy fully.
  3. Avoid caffeine and alcohol: Both caffeine and alcohol can interfere with your ability to relax fully and may also affect your body's ability to conduct energy. It's best to avoid these substances before a Reiki session.
  4. Listen to your body: Ultimately, the best thing you can do before a Reiki session is to listen to your body and eat in a way that makes you feel comfortable and nourished. If you need help with what to eat, opt for light, easy-to-digest foods that will relax you during the session.

Shower

It is generally recommended to take a shower before a Reiki session for several reasons:

  1. Cleanse and purify the body: Taking a shower can help to cleanse and purify the body, which is important for preparing yourself for a Reiki session. By removing any physical impurities or negative energy from your body, you can help create a clean and clear vessel for Reiki's healing energy.
  2. Promote relaxation: Taking a warm shower can also help to promote peace and calmness, which can help prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for a Reiki session. By relaxing your muscles and calming your mind, you can more fully benefit from the Reiki energy.
  3. Respect for the practitioner: Taking a shower before a Reiki session is also a sign of respect for the practitioner. By arriving clean and refreshed, you can help create a more pleasant and comfortable environment for yourself and the practitioner.

While it is not strictly necessary to shower before a Reiki session, it can help create a more conducive environment for receiving Reiki's healing energy and enhance the treatment's overall effectiveness.

Dress

When it comes to what to wear for a Reiki session, the most important thing is to choose comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and receive the healing energy fully.

Here are a few tips for what to wear for a Reiki session:

  1. Loose-fitting clothing: Loose-fitting clothing can help you to relax fully and allow the Reiki energy to flow freely through your body. Tight or constricting clothing can be distracting and impede energy flow.
  2. Natural fibers: Choose clothing made from natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or bamboo. These materials are breathable and comfortable and can help to regulate your body temperature during the session.
  3. Layers: It's a good idea to wear layers that you can easily add or remove depending on your comfort level. This can help you to maintain a comfortable body temperature throughout the session.
  4. Comfortable shoes: If you are wearing shoes during the session, choose a comfortable pair that is easy to slip on and off. You may be asked to remove your shoes during the session, so make sure your socks are clean and comfortable.

Overall, the key is to choose clothing that allows you to fully relax and receive the healing energy of Reiki without any unnecessary distractions or discomfort.

Set Intentions

Setting intentions for a Reiki session can help create a focused and purposeful experience and help you align your energy with your desired outcomes. Here are some steps you can follow to set intentions for a Reiki session:

  1. Reflect on your goals: Take some time to reflect on what you hope to achieve through the Reiki session. Are you seeking physical healing, emotional release, or spiritual guidance? What specific issues or challenges are you hoping to address?
  2. Write down your intentions: Once you have a clear idea of what you hope to achieve, write down your intentions clearly and concisely. Use positive, present-tense language to affirm that your desired outcomes are already manifesting.
  3. Visualize your intentions: Spend some time visualizing yourself already having achieved your desired outcomes. Imagine how it feels to be healthy, happy, and fulfilled in all areas of your life.
  4. Share your intentions with the practitioner: When you arrive for your Reiki session, share your intentions with the practitioner. This will help them to focus their energy and attention on your specific goals and needs.
  5. Let go and trust the process: Once you have set your intentions, it's important to let go of any attachment to specific outcomes and to trust in the process. Allow the Reiki energy to flow through you, and trust that it will work in the best way for your highest good.

By setting clear and focused intentions for your Reiki session, you can align your energy with your desired outcomes and create a more powerful and transformative healing experience.

Move Through Resistance

There are several reasons someone might resist attending their Reiki session after booking it. Here are some of the most common reasons:

  1. Fear of the unknown: If you are new to Reiki or have never had a session before, you may feel nervous or uncertain about what to expect. This fear of the unknown can create resistance to attending the session, even if you know it could be beneficial.
  2. Fear of vulnerability: Reiki sessions can be deeply healing, but they often require vulnerability and openness that can be uncomfortable for some people. You may resist attending the session if you fear opening up or being vulnerable.
  3. Fear of change: Reiki sessions can help promote healing and transformation, but they may also bring up old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. If you are afraid of change or resist letting go of old patterns, you may resist attending the session.
  4. Busy schedule: Sometimes, resistance to attending a Reiki session can be a matter of having a busy schedule or feeling overwhelmed by other commitments. If you are stressed or busy, you may resist taking time out for self-care and healing.

If you are feeling resistance to attending your Reiki session, it's important to take some time to reflect on the underlying reasons for your resistance. You can work through your resistance and create a more positive and transformative healing experience by identifying and addressing these underlying fears and concerns.

Physical Experience

You may experience a range of physical and emotional sensations during a Reiki session. Here are some of the most common phenomena that people report feeling during a Reiki session:

  1. Warmth: Many people report feeling a warm sensation in the area where the practitioner's hands are placed. This warmth may be comforting and soothing and can help to promote relaxation and stress relief.
  2. Tingling or pulsing: Some people may feel a tingling or pulsing sensation in the area where the practitioner's hands are placed. This may be a sign that energy is flowing through your body, helping to clear blockages and promote healing.
  3. Relaxation: Reiki sessions are often profoundly relaxing, and many people feel a sense of peace and calm during and after the session. You may feel your muscles relax and your mind become more centered and focused.
  4. Emotional release: Reiki energy can help to release emotional blockages and promote emotional healing. Some people may experience a sense of release or catharsis during a session and may feel emotions such as sadness, anger, or joy coming to the surface.
  5. Lightness: After a Reiki session, many people report feeling lighter and more energized. You may feel a sense of clarity and renewed purpose and may experience a greater sense of connection to your body, mind, and spirit.

Overall, the sensations you may feel during a Reiki session can vary widely depending on your needs and experiences. The sensations that you experience may even vary from session to session.
