Knowing about the Mercury Retrograde helps us to prepare for the energy that the season brings. A forecast doesn’t mean you don’t go out when it’s raining, it just means that you bring an umbrella, close the sunroof, and wear your waterproof boots.

I don’t know how Mercury became a constant scapegoat for everyone's communication issues, but it’s always everyone’s go-to when they need to play the blame game. Let’s learn to work with this energy, instead of fearing and dreading these liminal spaces.

One of the oldest forms of spiritual work is in protective magic.

Growing up, I didn’t like to travel without the protective amulets that each of my grandmothers gave me. I would get anxious and worry if I had to travel without it.

Every time I saw my grandpa he would pray protective blessings over my head.

There is a reason that such traditions have withstood the test of time. They help us to repel and hold off energy that seeks to harm us.

I love that every community has their own form of protective magic.

How to Fill Back Up

This is the main step that I see people forget when it comes to energetic hygiene, even though it's probably the most important.

What happens when you wring out a sponge, and throw it back in the water it just came from?? It soaks up the dirty water (or energy) it just release.

I think that we tend to glide over filling back up because its more time away. It is yet another additional process in which we have to focus on ourselves. For many people focusing on themselves is difficult, as they believe their role is to care for others, often at their own expense.

When I saw Lisa Nichols a few years ago, she spoke of filling your proverbial cup, letting it overflow onto the saucer underneath, and filling others cups from the saucer. That idea has deeply resonated with me since.

One of the biggest gifts we can give to ourselves is the ability to choose what stays and what leaves our energy and our spaces.

Just because someone, or something, was once a helpful part of our lives, doesn’t mean it needs to have longevity. Sometimes we need to release what is holding us back, mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually.

Sometimes we release in layers and chunks until we have revealed a fresh, new perspective.

One of the most critical practices for us to master as spiritual beings is grounding. So many of us spend significant time up in the ethers, attending to the fun facets of Spiritual work. However, we need to pay attention to our physical bodies as well. Our human bodies will permanently reside in the 3D.

Grounding is becoming fully present and connected to your physical body. People avoid being in their bodies because of uncomfortable physical or emotional pain. Individuals who struggle with addictions also avoid their physical bodies with drugs, sex, alcohol, food, or emotional entanglements.

Spending too much time out of body can cause issues getting and remaining grounded, but how do you know if you're not grounded?
