In addition to the many ways that exercise can enhance your magical practices and routines, the number of tools at your disposal is infinite and only contained by your imagination.
Magical tools can aid in making exercise more efficient and pleasant.
Here are several examples of magical tools that you can use to enhance your exercise practices.
One of the most grounding and centering tools that we have is our own breath. Breathing properly and not holding your breath is paramount when exercising. Focusing on your breath, and envisioning how it moves through your body can help enhance your workout by adding the element of energy work.
Mindfulness is the art of being in the present moment and fully aware of what is going on around you. For example, when I am powerlifting, the only thing that I focus on is the safe movements that my body needs to make. Feeling a barbell on my shoulders, or in my hands brings me into my body and makes me highly aware of what is going on in that moment.
Affirmations help us focus on a particular concept, idea, or statement, which can be especially helpful in the gym. By focusing on a specific phrase, I am not in my head and thinking about anything else.
I find it most beneficial to allow your affirmation to create itself, but here are some great options to start with if nothing comes to you:
Energizing Music or Inspiring Podcast
Sometimes I think that we underestimate the impact of music on our lives and how we use it to support our moods. For example, we use the energy of music to help move energy while dancing. The vibration of music helps us to realign energy.
Depending on your auditory preferences, energizing music or an inspiring podcast can help to make a workout fly by.
Magic Infused Water
There is so much potential for infusing water with magical properties. You can infuse water with anything from fruit, herbs, and flowers to crystal and astrological energy. Of course, each of these additions enhances the taste of the water, as well as the potential to nourish different aspects of your mind, body, and spirit.
In addition, the bottle or jar which you drink your water from can have symbols or sigils to enhance your water further. (See below)
Symbols & Sigils
For centuries, signs and symbols have been used to help imbue energy onto other objects. Clothes, shoes, and accessories are an easy way to include symbols to help enhance your routines.
There are a number of symbols that can help to improve your workout. As a Reiki Master, I love using the Reiki power symbol in order to supercharge my physical body.
You often see people wearing the symbol of the cross or other religious insignia to signify their energetic relationship with their religion. Symbols and sigils are a deeply personal practice that should be individualized based on personal preference.
One of the only things that I truly enjoyed from my time at the fancy gym that my parents went to were the Eucalyptus towels. These delightfully cold and refrigerated towels were a luxurious escape from sweat and physical exertion. Once I realized that I could easily make these at home with a few extra washcloths, these quickly became a workout staple.
