Over the past few years, I've noticed a ton of people on social media all the time flaunting expensive spiritual items that make their photos or videos aesthetically pleasing. I'm here to tell you that while you may want some of these items, none of them are necessary to become more in touch with your intuitive nature and psychic senses. You Don't Need Fancy ToolsYou may see people using beautiful tools that match a certain aesthetic. I don't use tools most of the time unless I really need an extra energetic boost. As I've said before, YOU are the Divine tool. Tools are just that, they may help aid or amplify, but they are not the creator or originator of the magic. YOU ARE! Tools are just fortifiers of your magic! Most tools used over the years have been crafted out of necessity using household items like water, salt, herbs, spices, oils, etc.! The Public LibraryWhile I may or may not be a bibliophile and self-proclaimed book hoarder, not every book is a keeper. I am constantly surprised at the number of new books that my city library has available to check out and in genres I'm interested in. Be sure to check out your city and county libraries for plenty of free books, DVDs, and CDs. If you're a student, be sure to look at what your school offers as well. Most people don't realize that libraries also offer additional free services like advanced learning options, encyclopedia and reference book access, and in some locations, even items themselves. For example, my local library has a telescope that residents check out for a week at a time. Window ShoppingNo one said you have to spend money every time you go into a crystal store. You can always go in and soak up some of the good vibes for free. If the shop allows you to touch the items, go ahead and hold the crystal and feel its energy. You don't need to take the piece home with you to benefit from its power. I love going to stores with large crystals and marveling at the energy. You can also take photos or videos of the crystals so that you come back to the energy at a later time. Likewise, you don't even have to see the crystal in person to benefit from its energy! You can look up an image of the crystal online and receive the same benefits, which leads me to my next point. TechnologyTechnology has introduced a whole new world of opportunities for learning and sharing knowledge. You can find classes, activations, meditations, and just about anything you ever wanted or needed online. In addition, platforms like Youtube, podcasts, and various forms of social media have made it easier to access information for free than ever before. Our ancestors would marvel at the technology we have at our fingertips. The internet has allowed us to access all sorts of information, find PDF or digital versions of books or ancient texts, and learn things with the click of a button. The amount of information we have easy access to is mindboggling. Are you looking for a singing bowl meditation? Youtube it. Are you looking for a guided meditation to meet your spirit guides? Youtube it. Want to take a yin yoga class? Youtube it. Do you need a vacation? Youtube it. Nature & ForagingNature is one of the best and most underrated tools we have access to. It's always free to step outside, get some fresh air, sunshine on your face, and listen to nature's sweet melodies. Many people find themselves drawn to water or the forest to recharge energetically. Most cities have parks and recreation sites that are free to use. I love walking down a nature path and just soaking in my surroundings. Note about foraging: You want to ensure that you're not on private property or breaking any laws while foraging. You also want to ensure that anything you're using isn't treated with chemicals. Finally, you also really want to be confident that what you're foraging is safe for human use/consumption. Long story short, read up on local foraging practices before you start. Free Monthly ClassesMany community centers, local colleges, fitness centers, park districts, fitness stores (think Lululemon), and even bars and restaurants are getting into offering monthly free classes to encourage people to visit their business. These are great opportunities to meet up with old friends, and even make some new ones! Meet Up GroupsMeet Up groups are a great way to find people in your area with the same likes and interests as you. Typically, these groups have no fee to join and invite you to various events they host. I have seen all sorts of spiritual Meet Up group events like meditations, intuitive practice, and Reiki shares. Museums & ExhibitsMany museums either offer a free day admission during the month or a free time slot for access during the week. You can also check your local library for culture passes to gain entry into museums for free. Many smaller museums feature wonderful local exhibits as well. We can learn much about the culture, the land, the people who came before us, and their traditions from museums. Use What You HaveWant to use a pendulum, but you don't have one handy? No need to go out and buy one; take a string, or a necklace, along with a charm, or something that weighs it down, and use it as a pendulum. You can also make your own oracle or tarot decks out of materials you have at home! Cardstock and colored pencils do the trick! If you don't have cardstock, construction paper, or thicker paper will work just as well! Check your spice cabinet! You probably have plenty of magical ingredients at your fingertips! Salt, oils, spices, herbs, honey, water, peppers, and glass jars, are all common ingredients for creating spells. Trade with FriendsTrading with friends is an excellent idea if you have an object you're not using anymore, like a deck of cards, a crystal, or a book. This is a great way to grow your collections without spending more money! What ways have you found to enhance your spiritual life without spending money? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below! Love, Arielle Sterling
