Types of Psychic Readings

I've been walking down these spiritual streets my entire life. Both sides of my family have always been very open about their magical experiences and psychic abilities, which has allowed me to immerse myself in the world of spirituality unabashedly. 

Recently, people have become more open to the world of spirituality, magic, and intuition. The fascination has extended to numerous television shows that have helped psychics gain popularity and awareness of what is possible beyond our five physical senses.

​People are just beginning to understand the depth of what psychic readings can look like. Every psychic has a unique style and diverse toolbox for interpreting intuitive information. Many psychics have one or two specialties and perform just a few services based on their training. 

It's essential to understand what a Psychic does, and what you're hoping to achieve, before booking a session with them. Before purchasing a reading, I recommend understanding their style and how they work. Many psychics use a combination of techniques based on their personal preferences and education, while some stick to the traditional methods.

Types of Psychic Readings

Akashic/Past Life - This type of reading looks into the history of the soul's incarnations. This reading provides a detailed record of where and when a soul has been embodied, whether previously on Earth or in another planetary system. This type of reading requires advanced preparation, and therefore, may need to be booked in advance. 

Angel Card - You connect with your Guardian Angels and specific Angels who want to work with you in this type of reading. Doreen Virtue's Angel Card Reader course seemed to popularize this type of reading. Many people use her Angel cards and techniques during this reading.

Astrology - This reading maps out different charts, reflecting on how celestial bodies' location in time and space can affect various aspects. Astrology readings can be helpful for more than just birth (natal) charts; looking at astrological elements can help with things like relationship compatibility, business decisions, and relocating. Astrological readings often require a great deal of advanced preparation for the Astrologer and, therefore, may need to be booked in advance. 

Aura / Energy - This reading looks at the physical body and the layers of energy at that moment. Energy work can help identify and alleviate pain and stagnant energy within the physical body. 

Cards (Oracle/Tarot) - This type of reading helps to interpret and identify possible outcomes with the help of an intricate card spread. The cards help the reader facilitate and demonstrate a conversation between them and Spirit. 

Divination -  One of the oldest types of psychic readings, divination is the process of gleaning future information. Many cultures have unique versions of divination, including candle/fire reading, bone reading, runes, etc. 

Mediumship - One of the most popular types of psychic reading, mediumship connects the client with passed-on loved ones, ancestors, animals, and inter-dimensional beings. 
Ex: Long Island Medium, Monica the Medium

Numerology - This type of reading calculates and reflects how an individual's birth date and name can be interpreted based on numerical values. 

Palmistry - This type of reading includes studying details of the hand and palm to identify characteristics and future possibilities. 

Psychometry - This type of reading involves touching an item or object to read its energy and history. This can be helpful to learn more information about antiques, how an object was used, or the person who owned it.

These are just a few examples of different popular types of psychic readings. There are many more that I have not listed from different cultures and belief systems. 

Regardless of the method, psychics connect with your energy while simultaneously interpreting and deciphering the messages they receive. Of course, everyone has a different specialty and way of acquiring intuitive information from the ethers, but various tools and methods can aid in this process. 

Settings for Psychic Readings

In addition to different types of readings, there are also several settings in which you can receive a reading. The setting is just as important as the type of reading. The more comfortable you are, the more likely that you'll be able to enjoy the experience and get what you need out of it. 

Individual: This is the most common type of reading as it can bring forth very personal information that you may not want others to be privy to. 

Couples: This type of reading is common when working through relationship issues or something with a common bond. 

Group/Party: This is an exciting type of reading where multiple participants enjoy readings together. This can be a fun family event or as entertainment for a party. 

Gallery Readings: It is not always guaranteed to receive a reading at gallery readings. There is often a larger crowd, and the psychic will read whomever they are energetically drawn to.

Psychic Fair: For many people, this is a great way to sample the energy of a reader before booking an entire session with them. Readers will often offer mini-sessions to see the maximum number of clients at a time. This also allows you to experience diverse readers and see how their styles differ.

Online: While this may not seem like the best option initially, present times have certainly opened up our minds to the possibilities of connecting online. This is a great option because you can easily record your entire session and rewatch as many times as you'd like.
